A welcoming phrase printed on brightly colored paper posted so that it is the first thing a student sees when he/she walks through the door.
Thanks for your idea! Could you share an example of a welcoming phrase you use?
I like to have my information written or typed on the white/chalk board. I usually ask a thought-provoking question to wake up the senses and I am usually standing welcoming each person into the room with a smile and an additional "what's your name?"
Thanks for your good idea - can you give an example or two about your thought-provoking question you use?
I’m very lucky that I have an office with large windows, lots of light, plants, and artwork – it all comes together to create an atmosphere that makes students feel welcome. It’s even a bit messy so that students are comfortable and relaxed. We sit around my table (I don’t have a desk) and talk, work on their assignments, and consider how to make academics more rewarding with less of a struggle.
